The square was reconstructed in 1999. The design of the new
Museumplein is by the Swedish/Danish landscape architect Sven-Ingvar
Andersson. It includes underground parking spaces and a underground
supermarket. In the winter, the pond can be transformed into an artificial
ice skating area.
